Ship Time
Texts from the Sea
Everything in his flat has a label. Except him.
You've sublet a flat in Edinburgh for six months from a man you've never met. He's on a research ship at the far end of the world, and he can only text during a short satellite window each day. His boiler, his cat and his forty unlabelled jars all need explaining. Every answer tells you more about him than he meant to give away.
In spring, he comes home.
How it plays
- Texts from the end of the world. His messages come in during a satellite window that visibly runs out. When the window closes, he's gone until tomorrow.
- One object, one honest answer. Every episode starts with something you've found in his flat. The deal: he answers truthfully, then he gets to ask you something back.
- Your life in Edinburgh too. A new job, a new city, new friends. Some nights you'll have better things to do than wait by the phone, and that's allowed.
- Six episodes, six months. Your choices shape how close you are by the time his ship comes in, and how the spring plays out.
A romance with a sense of humour
He explains ship disasters in the deadpan tone other people use for the weather. You get to play back.
Warm, not heavy
Longing, flirting and missing someone. No cheating, no jealousy and no villains.
For ages 16 and up
Romance and a few references to a pint or a dram. Nothing you couldn't read over someone's shoulder on the bus.
